Who We Are
We are a like-minded team consisting of practitioners primarily working in the childcare industry. We deliver nationwide bespoke child health and social care training and consultancy services. These services are provided for individuals and large organisations such as residential children’s homes, local authorities, schools, police departments, probation services, universities, and public and private healthcare settings.
Matter was set up in January 2017 by Joseph Rafter (Managing Director of Footsteps to Futures Ltd and Founder and Chairman of The Harley Jae Trust) and Richard Jones (Forensic Psychologist in Training at Footsteps to Futures Ltd). Our team consists of Psychologists, Consultant Social Workers and Residential Managers with a wide range of clinical and forensic experience. This includes working with Looked After Children (LAC), children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), and Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB), adult victims and offenders presenting with Mental Illnesses (MI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Personality Disorders (PD), and individuals presenting with an array of trauma symptomatology.
Our diverse team, experienced in Multi-Disciplinary Team working (MDT), has built long standing professional relationships with Social Workers, Psychologists (Clinical, Forensic and Educational), Psychotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers, Police Officers, Probation Officers, Youth Offending Teams, and Residential Care Workers. It is to these professionals that we devote our services to.
We know there is far more that can be done to improve outcomes for young people. Therefore, our main goal is to share good practice and holistic approaches in order to develop these dedicated industries further. We firmly believe in providing compassionate, non-judgemental and person-centred care for highly vulnerable individuals. Our aim is to empower workforces and whole organisations to provide the best possible care for those in need of their services.
